Chinchillas

I have a pet chinchilla that is amazing.  I have read a lot of different posts and articles about chinchillas and I still need your help. Some sites say that you can get you chinchilla wet. Other sites say that they will die if you get them wet. I know that it is not good for them because of the natural oils in their fur. If they get to hot can you mist them with water or not. Please give me some advice.
